DIY Personalized Tote Bag

Uncategorized

I made these as a gift for my bridesmaids last year and had such a positive reaction to them, I decided to make them as gifts for people.  My mom’s friend loved the bag so when her birthday was coming up I picked up a canvas and glitter tote bag from Target’s dollar spot to make her one!

Supplies:

Cricut

Iron on foil

Weeding tools

Canvas tote bag (Mine was $5 from Target’s Valentine’s Day collection)

Iron

Steps:

1. Write out what name you would like on the bag in Cricut design space and mirror the name since we are using iron on foil.

2. Cut the image out and get rid of the extra foil around the image (this is called weeding).

3. Place the design on your tote bag and iron the design.

4. After the bag has cooled down a bit remove the plastic from the foil.

5. Fill up the bag as a gift or keep it to use it for your library books.

High Chair Tutu

Uncategorized

My sister-in-law sent me a picture of an adorable high chair tutu for my niece’s first birthday. Since I had left over tulle from my bridal shower, I decided to make her one.

Materials

  • Tulle (I used tulle that came on a cylinder from Michael’s)
  • Pink thread
  • Pink ribbon (I used 1 1/2 inch ribbon)
  • Safety pin

Leaving the tulle on the tube it came on, I sewed a 2 inch casing from the folded edge of the tulle. Sewing all 25 yards of tulle took 1.5 bobbins so be prepared for it to run out closer to to the end of the tube. I put the safety pin on one end of the ribbon and threaded it through the casing. I’m not going to lie, it took an hour to thread through all 25 yards of tulle. Since I don’t have a high chair, I tested it out on a chair. I cannot wait to see my niece sitting her high chair with the tutu!

Bunny Napkin Ring Holders

Uncategorized

I wanted to create a fun napkin ring holder after finding the wire and beads in my craft room. After brain storming I decided to make bunnies!

What you’ll need:

Wire

White Pearls

Wire cutters/Pliers

Steps:

1. Cut wire for the bunny head. Make this big enough to hold a napkin.

2. Add Pearls to the wire.  Leave enough space to tie off the ends.

3. Twist the ends and then take the pliers and warp the ends so they are warped around the circle.

4. Cut two pieces of wire for the ears.

5. Warp one end of the wire near when you tied off the end of the head.

6. Fill this up with pearls, leaving enough space to tie off the other end.  I

7. Tie off the other end, I left 1 pearl in-between each end of the ear.

8. For the 2nd ear, repeat steps 5-6!

Shakey Heart Placements!

Uncategorized

I saw this idea on Pintrest and decided to make them for Valentine’s Day! I started by making a template from leftover poster board I had. Sadly, I didn’t leave enough room to make the tip of the heart, so I had to make sure I left enough room to cut the tip when placing the pattern on the plastic. Next, I cut out the plastic carefully around the pattern without using pins so there were no holes in the vinyl. I decided to use red thread when sewing the placemats to create a contrasting look. After threading the machine, sew about 75 percent of the heart and then stop to funnel the confetti into the center of the heart using a piece of paper. Once all of the confetti is in the center, sew the rest of the heart. I finished making the second placemat then I cut off the extra threads. Luckily I finish them to have my husbands and my traditional Burger King Valentine’s Day meal on them!

P.S. check your bobbin so you don’t run out of thread in the middle of the project like I did….

This project took me about an 45 minutes to make two hearts.

What you’ll need:

Clear plastic from Joann Fabrics

Scissors

Paper to make a template

Pencil

Paper to make a funnel

Sewing Machine

Thread

Confetti (I got mine from the Target craft section)

Vday Front Door Envelope

Valentine’s Day Envelope

I decided to do a quick 30 minute project to make my front door more festive for Valentine’s Day! I made the envelope out of white felt. The flowers were created by cutting out circles and then cutting a spiral towards the center of the circle. After cutting, I rolled the spiral until I was happy with the way the flower looked and then glued them onto the envelope. To finish the flowers, I glued a few green felt leafs by the base of the flowers. I cut a heart out of red felt and glued it to the envelope. To finish this project, I glued a piece of pom pom trim at the top to hang it on the door. Now to add some love letters!

What you’ll need:

Felt

Scissors

Hot Glue Gun/Glue

Trim

Painted Envelopes

Uncategorized

Once the days of wedding planning were over, I cleaned out my craft room and found a decent amount of hunter green envelopes left over from the wedding invites and the RSVP cards. I decided to challenge myself and come up with creative ways to use them. Since I’m hosting a Galentine’s day party in the beginning of March (yes, I know it’s a bit late), I decided to find a way to make it Valentine’s Day themed!

Materials:

Envelopes

Paint

Paint brushes

Paper towels

Cup with water

Paint tray

I decided to just start painting some flowers on the envelopes.
